The vehicle was displayed for the first time in 2007, during the International Defense Exhibition and Conference in Abu Dhabi. The Matador was officially launched the following year, at the 2008 African Aerospace and Defense Exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa. The Matador is the base variant of the family, it is an MRAP type platform designed to carry an infantry section for long distances in off-road and urban conditions."
